Fire Season 2011 is just around the corner so now is the time to prepare around homes which reside within the Wildland Urban Interface(WUI) areas.
As of May 1st open burning is allowed, but if you live in or near the forested areas you need to obtain a burn permit. Permits can be obtained from the Stevensville, Darby, Sula, and West Fork Ranger Districts. Prior to burning please call the Ravalli County Dispatch at 363-3033 to give the location of your burn. It is important to monitor current and forecasted weather conditions, have appropriate personnel and water available, burn when air quality is good and monitor fire activity till the fire is out.
